Brasstown Bald Hike
These pictures were taken on a fairly strenuous hike to Brasstown Bald - Georgia's highest point! Starting from the intersection of hwy. 180 and alt 180, Jack's Knob Trail leads up to the parking lot of Brasstown Bald. From here a paved half-mile trail leads to the top and visitors center (3.5 mi. from hwy. 180). |

Starting at HWY 180 / 180 SPUR.

Coming off of Jacks Knob Trail into the parking lot.(05-21-02)

(Feb. 1999) The climate is not typical for Georgia. The record high temperature is only 84 degrees F and the record low is -27 degrees F! |
A typical wintertime view. (Feb. 1999)
Great views in every direction! In this photo we look across to Blood Mountain (right horizon).
Looking from the top back down to the Brasstown parking lot one half mile from the top.

Beautiful Rosebay Rhododendron at the back of the Brasstown Bald parking lot. (7-16-01) |
