The Tallulah Gorge Trails
Tallulah Gorge State Park is truly a breathtaking place to visit and hike. This ancient marvel of nature is more than two miles long and 1,000 feet deep. The Tallulah River flows through the gorge with more than a 600 ft. drop in elevation and includes five major waterfalls. Six hiking trails are open to the public and many spectacular over-looks are along the trails. Two trails offer access to the gorge floor and require permits (free) from the State Park / Interpretive Center. The Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretive Center is a 16,000-sq. ft. educational center with cultural, historical and natural exhibits and an award winning film about the gorge is shown twice each hour (free!) Tallulah Gorge is located in the town of Tallulah Falls, GA on Highway 441. The State Park / Interpretive Center's only charge is a $4 per day parking fee, except on Wednesdays (free).
